An interesting account explaining how Cambridge’s Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology collaborated with AndesCrafts to bring Chilean craft and culture into their successful Museums at Night event!

This year for the Museums at Night national event, the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology hosted Manos Creadoras, or Creative Hands, a project organized by AndesCrafts and the Museum. AndesCrafts was created in 2012, in Cambridge, by Chilean students of the University, as a social and cultural project to promote the unique arts and traditions of Andean communities.  AndesCrafts’ products are all handmade and come with a certificate of authenticity featuring the artist’s name on it.

AndesCrafts came to the MAA shop in 2013 and immediately almost sold out. This partnership took a very unique turn when it was decided that a broader, and more significant collaboration could be possible, and so, together we embarked on applying for funding from the Chilean government in association with the Chilean Embassy in London to bring artisans from Chile to England.
